When I started penning down my thoughts for this post, it took me a while.
There were so many emotions around the conversations, the meeting before and after, and then the curated recording itself. And it was difficult for me to put all of it into a single post.
The humbleness of Atul Ladha da ji and Ashish Baheti ji Managing Directors of Vectus Polymers Pvt. Ltd. Their simplicity. And to some extent, being quite naive also. Full of emotions, yet so grounded.
The value they give to their team. To the environment around them. The customer connect. The way they have handled their partnership over the years. And the way their families and the next generation have taken it forward.
And then there was the pain.
The pain they went through when they were not able to do what they had always taken so much pride in doing, meeting their customers, listening to them, being close to the market and staying connected.
But on a personal note, there were two things which stayed with me.
When Atul ji spoke about “those depressing days of my life,” I learnt something.
When you are almost a senior citizen and you decide to start learning mountaineering, it is a remarkable feat. It talks not only about the passion of the man, but also about how you want to live your life.
You want to keep scaling new heights. Literally. And otherwise.
And similarly, the dream of Ashish ji to crisscross across countries. Not just as a traveller, but as someone who wants to soak in nature, the people and the local narratives.
I am impressed.
And this conversation gave me another takeaway for my own work.
In my mentoring and upskilling of business owners, I have realised that perhaps we spend too much time talking about how to build the business, and not enough about how the person behind that business continues to build himself.
This is one angle I am certainly going to add to my mentoring conversations.
What are the new heights you are still willing to scale, beyond your business?
